A Day in Sandestin

  • Posted on

There’s something about waking up in Sandestin that makes even an ordinary day feel like a small escape. Maybe it’s the way the light filters in off the Gulf, or how the air always seems just a little softer here. Whatever it is, today was one of those simple, perfect days that reminds me why I love living here.

I started the morning with a walk around the resort with my dog. The paths were quiet, just a few other early risers out enjoying the calm. The breeze coming off the water kept things cool, and everything felt unhurried. My dog, of course, was thrilled—every new scent worth investigating, every passerby a potential new friend. It’s hard not to slow down and appreciate things when you’re walking with a dog who finds joy in literally everything.

In the afternoon after work, I headed out for a 9 hole round of golf. One of the best parts about living here is having access to courses that feel like they belong on a postcard. Lush greens, well-kept fairways, and just enough challenge to keep things interesting. Today’s round wasn’t about chasing a perfect score—it was more about being outside, enjoying the rhythm of the game, and soaking in the surroundings. Some holes went better than others, but out here, even the bad shots don’t feel so bad.  The sun warmed everything up just enough to remind me that this is, in fact, Florida. Still, there’s a laid-back rhythm to life in Sandestin that makes the heat feel like part of the experience rather than something to fight against.

Days like this aren’t packed with big events or major milestones. They’re just easy, steady, and quietly satisfying. A good walk, a decent round of golf, and time spent outdoors—it’s a simple formula, but somehow it feels like more here.

Living in a place like this has a way of shifting your perspective. You start to realize that a “good day” doesn’t have to be complicated. Sometimes it’s just about being present, enjoying where you are, and letting the day unfold at its own pace.
